The Vestigium Series

The “Vestigium Series” of glass sculptures evolved while I was studying for my Master’s degree. The concept came out of the idea that we all leave “a trace, a memory”, referencing archaeology (my first degree and career). I created multiple layers with ‘artefacts’ made by using a number of glass making techniques, by manipulating bubbles & using oxides. The textures on the glass have been cast directly from surfaces revealed during archaeological excavations at Woking Palace (a medieval and Tudor deer park belonging to Margaret Beaufort’s family, and then her son Henry VII and grandson Henry VIII). The site has been reburied.

Each sculpture is unique and has taken many months to make with multiple firings, cold working and polishing.
